A Look Back in Time: Sept. 17, 1917

Now here's Sheridan Media's look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on Sept. 17, 1917.

Teachers and pupils of the High School held a special celebration at 2 o'clock this afternoon in commemoration of the 130th anniversary of the adoption of the constitution. Pupils began by singing “America,” then Miss Dougherty performed most pleasingly on the cornet.

A fire in Ranchester yesterday morning destroyed some of the principal buildings in the town. The fire originated in a barn adjacent to the ice house and was discovered about 1:30 in the morning. The ice house was in flames before the fire brigade arrived.
