A Look Back in Time: Oct. 1, 1918

Now here's Sheridan Media's look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on Oct. 1, 1918.

Through the action of the city council yesterday, Sheridan is to inaugurate a system of municipally owned fairgrounds. The council officially determined that the city will buy the grounds and improvements.

John F. Lehman, proprietor of the Owl saloon on North Main street, paid $100 and costs in police-court today for having disposed of liquor on Sunday. He did not sell the liquor, but giving it away out of hours is recognized in law to be as bad as selling it.

Postmaster Canfield announced today that a rural carrier for route No. 1, serving Big Horn and Beaver creek, is wanted at once.
