A Look Back in Time: June 3, 1919

Now here's Sheridan Media's look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on June 3, 1919.


An explosion of gas in the Dietz No. 8 coal mine at 11:30 o’clock this morning entombed seven men. Five had been rescued by 3 o’clock this afternoon, and a large rescue crew was at work to find the remaining two.

Sheridan county’s supply of rodent poison has arrived, and it will be mixed and ready for distribution in a few days.

Emmett Hucker of Arvada is a business visitor in Sheridan this week.

Harry Kay of Sheridan was a member of the Cornell freshman rowing crew which defeated Princeton last week, according to word received from Sheridan friends. Kay distinguished himself as an athlete during his high school days here.
