A Look Back in Time: June 27, 1914

John B. Kendrick of Sheridan has announced he will run on the Democratic ticket for the office of state governor.

The announcement was made at the annual banquet of the Platte County Democratic club in Wheatland, and brought a standing ovation from the 150 guests.

Famous author Hamlin Garland arrived in Sheridan today and is at the Sheridan Inn. He is author of “The Long Trail,” “Cavanagh, Forest Ranger,” and “A Son of the Middle Border,” now running as a serial in Collier's Weekly.

The Sheridan Stampede committee is anxious for all of the business men to put forth special effort to have their places of business decorated for the three days of the event. Red and white are the official colors, and blue may be used in the decorations.
