'Longmire' Author Appears Tonight In Sheridan

Wyoming's nationally-known author Craig Johnson who's become famous for his “Longmire” book series, and A&E television show of the same name, is showcasing his newest book tonight at Sheridan Stationery on Main Street.

His presentation and book signing runs from 5-8.

The novella is called “Spirit of Steamboat,” and centers around the author's main character, Sheriff Walt Longmire, and Longmire's predecessor, Lucian Connally, who was a World War II fly-boy. The author said he plans to share with his audience some of the experiences that led to the writing of this book.

The book's a little different than the others in the “Longmire” series, he said, because it's shorter, but he remains steadfast to his main character and the format's already received recognition.

As for the “Longmire” television series, he said there's still no word, yet, as to whether the show's been picked up for another season, but, early indicators look promising.

His appearance tonight in Sheridan is part of a 5-city tour. He's coming over from his ranch in Ucross, which is southeast of Sheridan, and hopes everyone can join him, even if the weather is a little less than favorable. His books will be available for purchase at the event.
