Local Law Enforcement Team Up to Eliminate Drunk Driving

The Wyoming Highway Patrol, the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sheridan Police Department are teaming up this rodeo week to help ensure a safe environment for everyone involved. Police Chief Rich Adriaens explains that the local law enforcement agencies took a different approach to combating drunk driving and other common rodeo week situations this year.

An increase in law enforcement presence has shown the potential to reduce and discourage crimes like drunk driving and so getting all hands on deck was pivotal for this collaboration. Wyoming Highway Patrol Lt. Erik Jorgensen shared what they will be bringing to the team.

Sheridan County Sheriff Allen Thompson said that his office has taken measures to prepare for a potential influx of arrests.

Adriaens, Jorgensen, and Thompson all expressed that they want the community to enjoy Rodeo Week to the fullest in a safe manner. Those that are drinking are encouraged to use the multiple resources for safe rides around the week’s events and make a plan to get home before you ever leave the house.
