Local Businesses Show Slower Holiday Sales This Year But Numbers Shopping Locally Are Up

A consensus of many Sheridan County businesses show that more people seem to have completed their holiday shopping locally than in the past. The problem is that those same shoppers are spending less money. The slow national economy may take most of the blame for local consumers spending less and Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Director Janelle Martinsen says there are several reasons more people are shopping at home this year.

The Christmas Stroll Contest is nearly over and less than half of the 81 participating businesses had found a stroll button winner as of the beginning of the week. Button owners still have until the businesses close today to find their matching number. The prizes offered in individual business are not the only thing you can win, either.

The $1,000 drawing will take place Monday, December 28th at 9AM.
