Update: Hospital Foundation Director Ada Kirven said that while they are still totaling donations from Saturday's Link event, an estimated $35,000 was raised for the Welch Cancer Center.

It couldn't have been a better day for a walk or run through Sheridan and 720 people did just that Saturday morning.

It was the 3rd Annual “The Link-Partners in Pink,” a fundraiser with an emphasis on breast cancer awareness.

Ada Kirven, Director of the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation, tells us what the event is about.

It was a sea of pink as the walkers and runners took off from Whitney Commons. The race began at 10 am with a 10-K run, a 5-k run or walk and a 1.5-mile walk.

Katherine Brown, Miss Wyoming, ran, crown and all.

Karen Steir celebrated one year and one day of being cancer-free on Saturday. For her, life has new meaning.

Everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by cancer and Kirven shares some advice.

All funds raised will go to the new Welch Cancer Center at Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
