The Director of the Johnson County Library, Cynthia Twing, will retire at the end of June, and the library will host and open house/retirement party for her on June 23rd at the library.

The event will celebrate Twing's 30 years of service to the community and the library.

In an earlier interview, she said there are a number of things she is proud of that have happened during her tenure, including the library expansion, the Library Endowment being established statewide which she was significantly involved in, and being named as the State Librarian of the Year for 2008-2009.

Twing began her career at the library in 1990 and became the director in 1999, which she has held since.

Twing announced her retirement earlier this year and the library board began the search for her successor, finally choosing current library employee Steve Rzasa as the new director.

The retirement party will be Sunday, June 23rd from 2 to 4pm.

Light refreshments will be served, and the community is invited to attend.
