Library Board Approves Budget

Sheridan County library board members approved the budget for the coming year in a meeting Monday.

Library Director Cameron Duff said approval was essentially a formality.

Duff said this year's budget for the library is just a little over $1.5 million. He said that's up slightly from last year, mostly due to expenditures for retirement and expenditures for other benefits, like health care.

He said the county also is trying to provide a 3 percent cost-of-living increase for employees.

Board members also approved a homebound services position, but not as a full-time position as it's been in the past. Duff said the needs of the community will continue to be met, but the person who fills the position will no longer spend part of his, or her, time working in the Wyoming Room as was done in the past. Duff said he's being allowed to seek a separate person for the Wyoming Room work.

Also at the meeting, new members Chad Saeler and Emily Hawkings were welcomed, and officers were elected for the coming year. Shannon Anderson was elected chairman of the board.
