Update: Letters Go Out to Write-in Candidates

Certified letters have gone out to three Sheridan and two Ranchester residents notifying them that they qualify to run for municipal offices in November.

County Election Clerk Brenda Kekich (KECK-itch) said she sent letters on Friday afternoon offering them spots on the general election ballots.

Darryl Szymansky, Chuck Wells and Thayer Shafer were successful write-ins for three four-year positions up for election on Sheridan's city council. Shafer was an announced candidate for a two-year seat on the council and is now asked to decide whether to seek the two-year term against Robert Webster or run for one of the four-year council seats.

Ranchester residents Gayle Ogle and Jesse Hinkhouse also won the right to be on the ballot for seats on the Ranchester town council. Hinkhouse was a write-in for a two-year seat, and Ogle received enough votes to qualify for either the two-year seat or for the four-year term.

Write-in votes were certified during the election canvass on Friday morning.
