Recently appointed state Senator Dave Kinskey of Sheridan is facing a learning curve to get up to speed on issues.

Facing down the legislative session which begins in January, he’s focusing the rest of his summer and fall to learn the issues his constituents want him to work on.

His phone number and email address will be posted with this story at

Being the former mayor of Sheridan, he said, he already had a pretty good grasp of city and state issues. However, now he needs to learn more about the issues, in depth.

Kinskey was appointed to the position last month, to fill the post left vacant with the June death of John Schiffer. Schiffer had represented District 22 in Johnson and Sheridan counties for more than two decades, since 1993. He was president of the Senate in 2007-08 and Senate Majority Floor Leader in 2006-07.
