Kendrick Mansion Holiday Open House

It’s become a Christmas tradition for many to visit the Kendrick Mansion in Sheridan during the holidays. Sheridan Media’s Judy Hagerott stopped by the open house to bring us the report.

Nearly 200 people visited during the first hour Friday night as the doors opened for the annual Trail End Holiday Open House.

Fully decorated with Christmas bliss, including a number of Christmas trees on all three floors, the night included live music a visit with Father Christmas and of course, the traditional figgy pudding and hot apple cider.

Site Superintendent Cynde Georgen said it a night of happiness.

I found Father Christmas upstairs dressed up in his best winter finery. I had to ask this fellow to explain just what or who Father Christmas is.

I’m sure if I ran into Father Christmas some winter night ho-ho-hoing his way around the forest there’d be more than just a few animals running away in fear.

But this Father Christmas delighted the children waiting to visit and he had a gift for all.

Cynde Georgen said the Trail End Holiday Open House just wouldn’t be the same without the figgy pudding and hot apple cider.

Most visitors raved about the figgy pudding, but 8 year-old Cora Moores had a different opinion.

Saturday open house hours are 4-7 p.m. and Sunday hours are 2-7 p.m. The Holiday Open House marks the grand finale, before the closing of the season, which is December 14. Until then, the state historic site will be open daily, from 1-4.
