School Board Increases Cost For Lunches

School Board Increases Cost For Lunches

Johnson County School District One's Board of Trustees have voted to increase the cost of lunches for all students in the district effective for the 2014-15 school year.

District Business Manager Matt Ramey explained to the board at this week's meeting that the last increase for school lunches was four years ago, and costs have continued to rise each year since.

The district chose to raise prices to help offset their increased costs.

For now, the breakfast program will be untouched and will remain at last year's cost across the board.

Ramey explains more about why the increases were necessary.

The board voted 7-2 to increase the cost of school lunches in the district.
Lunches in the Elementary schools will increase 25 cents per meal and will be raised by 50 cents per meal in the middle and high schools.
