Johnson County OKs Use Of Company For Utility Savings

At their Tuesday meeting the Johnson County Commissioners agreed to begin using an independent company to try to find savings in the utility bills.

Utility Bill Solution Group, out of Salt Lake City, gave a proposal to the commissioners at an earlier meeting, saying they have numerous clients in the state and region that they are currently saving money on their monthly utility bills.

The company audits the clients' bills looking for overcharges, rate problems, or other oversights such as tariff or tax rate issues and corrects them to save them money. Their fees for their services are half of the savings they find.

The contract with Johnson County, as with other Governmental agencies, is for 36 months, but no charges will be assessed to the county if UBSG finds no savings.

County Clerk Vicki Edelman said she had contacted a number of the company's current clients that all gave her “positive feedback.”

The commissioners approved the chair to sign the agreement with Utility Bill Solution Group.
