Johnson County Nullifies City/Co Engineer Agreement

Johnson County Nullifies City/Co Engineer Agreement

At their last meeting, the Johnson County Commissioners voted to send a letter to the City OF Buffalo formally withdrawing from the City/County Engineer agreement between the two entities.

After an executive session with Buffalo Mayor Randy Dyess and City Attorney Ben Kirven, the commissioners announced their intent to dissolve the agreement.

No explanation was given, but based on discussions at the time the agreement was formed, the entities would split the cost of the position for one year and have the engineer document their time and for which projects he was working on at the time. The entities were to review those figures and determine if it was most cost-effective to continue having the position for both the city and county, have the position become permanent with one or the other entities or do away with the position altogether.

No decision from the City of Buffalo has been made yet concerning whether they plan to keep the position themselves or phase it out.
