Johnson County Hears Proposal From Healthcare Broker

Johnson County Commissioners
Johnson County Commissioners

Johnson County's Commissioners and a number of County Department Heads were presented with a proposal from Corporate Benefits Consortium, or COBECON, at their meeting Tuesday.
COBECON offers brokerage and consulting services to a number of entities in the state, including seven other counties in Wyoming.
Their services are not necessarily offered to change existing healthcare providers to the county, although changing to a different provider is a possibility to help with costs involved with providing county employees healthcare coverage, according to COBECON's Diana Madvig, who gave the presentation.
According to information provided by COBECON, their strength lies in their ability to unbundle self-funded employee benefits programs, like the one currenty held by Johnson County.
Commissioner Smokey Wildeman said after the proposal that the county would like to weigh their options before making a decision.
The county's current provider, MBA, will make a presentation to the commission at their next meeting March 6.
The commissioners will set up a workshop in the near future to allow COBECON and MBA to both make presentations to the commission and county employees.
