Johnson County Commissioners Consider Retirement, Donation

The Johnson County Commissioners considered employee retirement benefits options and charitable donations last week.

Kevin Bettinger, with Hartford, gave the commissioners options for retirement plans, which will be further considered.

Axa, The Equitable, also gave a presentation on what their company can offer county employees with their retirement plans, and they too will be discussing it with the commissioners at their December 4th meeting.

The commissioners received a request from the Boys and Girls Club for help in funding Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and gift baskets for their member families. The commissioners approved $250 for their Thanksgiving dinner but tabled the request for the Christmas baskets, which they discussed at the meeting.

The B&G Club explained in a letter to the commissioners that they want to provide food baskets for their member families to help them through the Christmas Holiday and were soliciting donations from the city, county, food pantry and private citizens for help.

The commissioners discussed the request.

Finally, the commissioners approved Holiday schedules for 2012 and 2013.

County employees will receive Christmas Eve and new Year's Eve off this year.

They approved half-days for the same Holidays in 2013.
