At their regular Tuesday meeting, Johnson County's Commissioners welcomed and introduced the new county planner, Jim Waller.

Although Waller has worked with the previous planner, Rob Yingling, for just over three years, he has predominantly been taking care of updating the county's GIS and mapping.

Earlier this year the commissioners chose to downsize the planning office from two employees to just one, that could handle all of the duties of the planner, mapping/GIS, and also septic permitting.

Their choice was to go with Waller.

The new planner, in a later interview, spoke highly of the previous planner and said he was looking forward to getting busy in his new position.

One task he said needed attention soon was updating the county's subdivision regulations that have not been addressed since 1996. Waller said although some amendments have been made to them, they are ten years old and need to be updated.
