Johnson County's Commissioners approved accepting a number of grants, state aid and contracts for various uses at their meeting last week.

The commission ratified a Request for State Aid in the amount of $500,000 for taxi lane construction at the Johnson County Airport.

Commission Chair Smokey Wildeman explains further.

They also approved a three-year agreement with WYDOT to provide paving services on the runways and taxiways at the airport.

Buffalo Mayor Randy Dyess, who also serves on the Airport Board, gave more details concerning the agreement.

Also approved by the commission were three Homeland Security Grants.

The first is for Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention for just under $24,000; the second is a Coroner's Grant for roughly $2,500 and the third is for Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness or HMEP for just over $2,250.

The three grants are ongoing renewals for this fiscal year.
