Begun as a pilot program in 2007, Joey's Fly Fishing Foundation is just about to begin its second full season as an up-and-running, non-profit youth mentoring organization. Founder Joey Puettman tells us that the first of 43 camps begin Monday, June 7th.

The first three days the kids work on that educational and material building part, and then on Thursday of each camp week, they take what they've learned and go to one of several area ranches donated to them for the use of their ponds or streams.

While the youth and adults are able to share angling adventures in the great outdoors of northeastern Wyoming, Joey says it's really about something much more significant.

Joey's Fly Fishing camps are open to any child, at no specific cost to the family, between the ages of 9 and 18. Joey elaborates.

One of their goals, he says, is to train the older youth to then become mentors to the younger children.
