Joey’s Fall Fly III

Posted in

The 3rd annual Joey’s Fall Fly Tournament will be here soon. A fly fishing event like none other, the Fall Fly kicks off Friday evening, September 18, with a fundraising event.

Two person fly fishing teams will be selected, a qualified adult angler paired with one of Joey’s students and a draw for their fishing location. The evening will include live and silent auctions, a calcutta from the fishing teams, food, raffles and more.

Joey’s Foundation is a non-profit organization located in Sheridan that “strives to introduce children to the special and unique sport of fly fishing while fostering a lifelong passion and appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors.”

Serving over 200 youth each summer, Joey’s began eight years ago by Joey Puettman who saw the results of getting trouble youth out on the water fishing.

Saturday sees the teams out on the waters of Sheridan County in fly fishing tournament action in some of the most pristine waters of Wyoming.

Joey’s is an all inclusive mentoring and stewardship program where youth participate in all aspects of fishing from rod building, fly tying, stream reclamation, and looking at the ecology of the river.

The Fall Fly helps raise money for scholarship support for the many youth referred to Joey’s.
