Jo Co Approves Rural Health Tower Agreement

Johnson County's Commissioners, at last week's meeting, approved an agreement between themselves and Johnson County Rural Health for use of a county-owned radio communications tower near the airport.

Marilyn Connelly, with the Rural Healthcare District, told the commissioners they discovered an issue with the tower site and previous lease agreements.

The city, according to Connelly, had been paying $36 per year to lease the tank, and had been splitting the cost of electricity for the tower building site with the county since at least 2007.

The city told county deputy attorney Christian Lukjan they would agree to give up their lease on the tower so Rural Healthcare could install their repeater for their ambulance/emergency communications and enter into a lease agreement with the county.

Lukjan explains the lease agreement further.

The commissioners voted to approve the lease agreement.
