The Johnson County School Board has approved district administration to apply to the state for funding of a proposed alternative school to be built in Buffalo.

According to discussions at the school board meeting this week, the Wyoming Legislature removed an existing moratorium, and the district wants to apply for the funding before the legislature can possibly reinstate the moratorium, as explained by Superintendent Jim Wagner.

Although there is no guarantee the state will approve the application, if it is approved by the state, the district's alternative program would be funded as an alternative school to be built in the district and funded as an additional school facility within the district.
