JCSD1 Board Discusses Grounds, Summer Projects

The Johnson County School Board was updated on grounds, facilities and projects during their recent meeting.

Chris Spencer, Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, resigned the position effective at the end of the school year.
Cameron Kukuchka, Director of Technology & Innovation for the district, discussed projects and facilities with the board, on behalf of the facilities department.

Kukuchka explained the irrigation issues at both Buffalo High School and the Kaycee School.

Kukuchka also reported that projects to improve Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access at the sports facilities at BHS will soon begin; carpet replacement is underway in the district's buildings; parking lot projects, including pothole repair will be done this summer; an HVAC system upgrade will soon be underway at Meadowlark Elementary; and technology systems will be upgraded and/or replaced during the off summer months.

He said during recent power outages that many systems in the district went down and that they are still trying to get some of them back up and running.
