The Johnson County School District 1 Board of Trustees held their second meeting of January in Kaycee Monday night and received an update on where the process for building their new Cloud Peak Elementary School currently sits.

District Business Manager Matt Ramey told the board he thought notice to bid documents were going out this week, with a pre-bid conference at school district offices February 7th. Bid openings are expected on February 22nd, and the Notice to Proceed is tentatively scheduled for April 7th.

Superintendent Dr. Rod Kessler told the board the School Facilities Commission is pleased with the district's decision to build a “copycat” school, based on a school design in Cody.

Should the school project bids come in higher than expected, the SFC has assured Kessler the project won't be delayed by the district seeking additional funding from the state.
