JCHC Pursuing New Contract For Medical Waste

Johnson County Healthcare Center will be pursuing an agreement with a new company to provide medical waste removal services to the facility, after the hospital board approved the request.

The facility currently is contracted with Stericycle through September of 2018, but have received a quote from MedPro Waste Disposal at a substantially lower cost to the healthcare center.

According to discussions at their recent board meeting, Stericycle is wanting to renew their agreement with the facility for the services at $7,000 per month, while MedPro quoted them $5,385 per month.

Hospital Administrator Nicole Hobbs said there were some considerations needed before a decision should be made.

The board approved pursuing an agreement for services with MedPro Waste Disposal, pending positive outcomes from checking references and the opt-out clause.
