At their meeting March 28, the Johnson County Healthcare Center Board of Trustees got a financial report for February and an updated forecast from Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward.

Ward told the board that February's report was “not great,” explaining that the Healthcare Center had collections of over $1 million but receivables due the JCHC from Medicare have now topped $1.5 million because of the glitch in Medicare's billing software. Payments from Medicare have stepped up significantly in recent weeks but are still lagging, although he expects them to get payments current in the next couple of months.

The financial forecast is favorable, with overall gross revenue $172,000 ahead of projections, with $222,000 in gross revenue in the hospital and the clinic running behind projections.
Projections show an operating loss of $1.1 million for the year, he said, with a projected yearly profit of $3.2 million.

He explains further.

The board approved the updated forecast.
