JCHC Administrator: 2018 Building Project 'Going Well'

At their monthly meeting Wednesday evening, the Johnson County Healthcare Center's Board of Trustees received their update on the 2018 Building Project, to replace the nursing home.

Hospital Administrator Sandy Ward told the board the project is “going well” so far.

The Healthcare Center has spent nearly $1.8 million so far on the project, mostly in planning and design, but are starting to incur construction costs.

The road closure into the facility from West Lott Street to the Main Entrance will continue for another 2 to 3 weeks, he said, as unforeseen problems with underground infrastructure has caused some backups in work schedules.

The 2018 Capital Construction Project will, in Phase One, replace the aging Amie Holt Care Center with a two-story new facility to the west of the main entrance to the facility. It is currently under construction.

Phase Two, if approved by the board at a later date, will replace a portion of the hospital not updated with the last construction project completed last year.
