Winter is a perfect time for reading a good book, and now the time spent reading can not only broaden your horizons intellectually, it can also give you the chance to win some great prizes at the Johnson County Library's Winter Reading Program.

The idea is to motivate all ages to read more books, and Assistant Library Director/Children's Services Director Mary Rhoads explains how the program came about.

The different levels of readers are grades 1-3, grades 4-5, teens, and then adults. Each level will compete for their own prize baskets.

Rhoads explains what the readers must do and how they qualify for the prizes.

The more a person reads, the more slips will go into the jar and the more chances you have to win the prize basket, she said. Although the program started last week, it only takes one slip to win, so there is still time to get signed up. The prizes are fitting for each age group, Rhoads added, and whomever wins them “will enjoy the contents of the baskets.”
