Hybrid School Bus In Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming has purchased its first diesel
hybrid school bus. The state Department of Education and Department of Environmental Quality unveiled the new bus at the Capitol on Friday.
The departments purchased the $196,500 bus with funds awarded by the Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Diesel Grant Program. The state plans to rotate the bus among different school districts and test its performance in different altitudes, traffic conditions and travel distances.
The first district will be Sublette County School District 1 in Pinedale followed by Sublette 9, Sweetwater 1, and Sweetwater 2. Illinois-based manufacturer IC Bus says the hybrid is capable of traveling up to 13 miles per gallon of diesel.
