Saturday, September 1st is opening day for small game and upland bird seasons. Game and Fish Information Specialist Warren Mischke says that there are a couple of things hunters need to keep in mind, especially this year with the drought.

Mischke said that mourning dove hunters are reminded that they need the federal Harvest Information Program or HIP permit in their possession while hunting. The permit is available on the G&F website as well as at license agents.

The G&F also announced that Robert Hipp is a new game warden for the Sheridan region. Hipp will be working some wildlife duties right away and watercraft enforcement next summer in northeast Wyoming. His reservoir responsibilities will be partially funde by the U.S. Coast Guard, with Lake DeSmet and Keyhole Reservoir as his main focus.
