Face-painting, clowns, games and music were the order of the day at Sheridan Memorial Hospital Saturday morning as 5-year-olds, their parents and siblings gathered for the annual 5-year-old birthday party.

The event is sponsored by the hospital auxiliary, and auxiliary member Stella Montano said it's happened every year since 1959.

She said that was five years after the hospital moved to its current location on West Fifth Street, and was held to celebrate all the babies born five years earlier.

Montano said the party is open to any child in Sheridan County who's five years old, as well as parents and brothers and sisters.

Prizes were provided for the children who participated in the games, regardless of their ages, as well as popcorn, animal crackers and beverages.
