Hospital Board Hears ICU Update

The schematic design for expansion of Sheridan Memorial Hospital's Intensive Care Unit has been approved.

Rob Forister, the hospital's director of facilities support, updated members of the board of trustees at their meeting Wednesday. Also at the meeting, Hospital Foundation Director Ada Kirven said the foundation is nearing the end of a five-year pledge to raise funds for the Welch Cancer Center. Kirven said the organization was able to pay $200,000 Wednesday.

The funds are from pledges by residents and organizations to help finance construction of the Welch facility. In an interview after the hospital board meeting, Kirven said the foundation raised a little over $6 million in pledges and has passed the money to the hospital as those pledges are met. She told hospital trustees that about $600,000 in pledges are still outstanding.

In other matters before the board, hospital CEO Mike McCafferty said the Joint Commission, which accredits hospitals in Wyoming, is scheduled to visit the facility in Sheridan around June 15.
