Hospital space, and how that space is used, is currently under scrutiny.

Mike McCafferty, who's Sheridan Memorial Hospital CEO, explained during the meeting of hospital trustees Wednesday.

McCafferty told trustees that the hospital has a total 350,000 square feet in all of the facilities in different campuses. That includes the main hospital on West Fifth Street, additional buildings across Fifth Street from the hospital and the Gould Street facilities in downtown Sheridan.

He said a lot of space was freed up on Fifth Street when the Medical Arts Clinic was finished and the outpatient clinic and other services moved into that space.

McCafferty said what he'd like to do is consolidate the patient care areas in one area. He said administration is looking at how the buildings across the street from the hospital could be used for support services rather than for patient care.
