Three years ago, a car accident suddenly changed the lives of the Herbert family in Sheridan, as the daughter of John and Joleen, Hilary Herbert was left as a quadriplegic, unable to move, speak or eat.

Joleen had to quit her job to care for her daughter, as caring for Hilary needs to be done around the clock.

The Herberts live in a 14x70 single-wide mobile home, which makes things difficult in providing primary care for Hilary.

Last summer, Joleen sent an application and video in to ABC's "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" in hopes of having a home that would be more spacious and accommodating to their daughter's needs.

The Herbert's heard nothing back from the hit television show, that is until recently. Joleen explains.

Herbert says that while they've already been nominated, additional nominations certainly wouldn't hurt the cause, which can be done by logging on to their Facebook page.

Joleen said that the bathroom in their trailer has been remodeled so that Hilary's wheel-chair partially fits in the shower, but that a full-size roll-in shower would be much more appropriate for her daughter.

Herbert also said that as Hilary regains more of her capabilities and makes more progress in the future, she may be able to use an electric wheelchair on her own; however, she would not be able to operate one in the mobile home that they are currently in.
