242lbs Marijuana Siezed in I-80 Traffic Stop

A traffic stop Tuesday on Interstate 80 resulted in an arrest and the seizure of more than 242 pounds of high grade marijuana.

The stop took place about nine miles east of Evanston, eastbound on I-80 when troopers conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on a tractor trailer commercial vehicle hauling automobiles. Sergeant Stephen Townsend.

The driver of a tractor trailer, 50-year-old Hazem Izzat, was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The eastbound vehicle is believed to have originated in California, destined for somewhere in the Detroit, Michigan area.

Troopers have requested assistance from the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation in the case.
