High Water Damages Crazy Woman Canyon Road

High spring runoff from the Bighorn Mountains has filled Crazy Woman Creek and its tributaries to near capacity, and the excess water has damaged the road that moves through the canyon, according to Johnson County Road and Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer.

Pehringer said half of the road in a roughly 100-foot section has been completely washed away, and until the water recedes and repairs can be done, the road will be down to one lane in that area.

Pehringer explains the situation.

The damaged section of road is outside of the canyon itself, near the Klondike Ranch area just east of the scenic canyon.

The washout should not affect traffic drastically, and repairs should be finished within a few weeks, Pehringer said, just as soon as water levels in the creek come down.
