Harvest Time at the Youth Garden

Over a dozen young gardeners scoured their garden plots looking for the fruit of their labor...fresh vegetables. Thursday was the last Youth Garden Activity Day held at Sheridan College's Community Garden.

Held monthly throughout the summer, the Youth Activity Days have been a hands-on learning experience for these young gardeners. Ami Erickson is the Dean of Ag and Science at Sheridan College and has guided these green thumbs since Spring.

Much of the garden wasn't quite ready to pick, but there's plenty of growing season left. Ten year-old Elizabeth Lawrence was picking mint leaves hoping to brew some tea. She's learned one very important lesson.

Once vegetables were picked, the kids used other vegetables to paint and stencil with.
