Wyoming Governor Matt Mead remains optimistic that the future of the coal industry isn’t as bleak as some may think.

He recently commented on how the Millennium Bulk Terminal in Washington could change the future of Wyoming coal.

The Millennium Bulk Terminal is the last remaining coal export terminal proposed along the West Coast, as all of the other proposed projects have fallen by the wayside. The state of Washington, earlier this year, announced that they will not allow its aquatic lands to be used for the proposed terminal near Longview, putting what many have said is “the final nail in the coffin” for the Millennium Bulk Terminal. Officials with Millennium have been on record as saying that the State’s decision is just another hurdle in getting the export terminal opened.
