At a media conference Tuesday, Governor Dave Freudenthal addressed the issue of local government funding, noting that in 2009 when the State made budget cuts, not all local governments were as quick to respond.  Now those cities and counties are struggling with reduced sales tax revenue, upon which they are heavily reliant for their operational funding.

During the 2010 Wyoming Legislative session, the Governor supported a health care pilot bill designed to hold down costs, decrease utilization, and keep Wyoming residents healthier.  The bill passed.  Following the announcement last week that he’s appointed a benefit design committee for the pilot project, Freudenthal said he wants things to move forward quickly.

The Governor signed a proclamation recognizing “National Travel and Tourism Week” in Wyoming, highlighting tourism as the second-biggest revenue source in the state.

Freudenthal proclaimed May 8th through the 16th as “National Travel and Tourism Week”.
