Gordon Praised For Work Benefitting Local Governments

State Treasurer Mark Gordon was praised by Buffalo Mayor Mike Johnson for his efforts to help local governments through expanded investment opportunities with the WYO-STAR program and Constitutional Amendment A, passed by voters that took effect in 2017.

According to the State Treasurer's website, Wyoming residents passed Amendment A, which allows the state to invest additional funds in the stock market.
In 1987, the Wyoming State Legislature authorized county, city, school district or any other local government entity to participate in the WYO-STAR Program.
Then in 2016, the legislature authorized local government entities to participate in the WYO-STAR II Program.

These changes, along with Amendment A, not only benefitted the state government's investment portfolio, but also those of the local governmental entities that chose to participate, including the City of Buffalo.

Mayor Johnson thanked Gordon for his efforts.

There is a push currently for the legislature to allow a WYO-STAR III program as well, according to Treasurer Gordon.
