Gorbachev Speech Among UW Homecoming Activities

LARAMIE (AP) - Homecoming weekend festivities begin at the University of Wyoming on Thursday. This year's Homecoming theme is "Wanted: Cowboys of the West."

Activities will include a speech by former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev, a dance, a pig roast, a parade and the football game.

Thursday's events include a speech by Governor Matt Mead at the Keith and Thyra Thomson Honors Convocation in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium and a 1980s-themed homecoming dance at Wyoming Union Ballroom.

Gorbachev's appearance in the Arena-Auditorium highlights Friday's activities. It is free and open to the public.

And Saturday is the parade, followed by the football game between Wyoming and UNLV.
