Gillette Man Injured in 4-Wheeler Incident

A 48-year-old Gillette man was airlifted to Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Sheridan after being bumped off a 4-wheeler on Saturday in the Big Horn Mountains.

Lt. Mark Conrad with the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Gerald Watts. He said the victim and other family members were riding single-file on Dayton Gulch Road when the incident happened. The lieutenant said the family initially took the victim back to their hunting camp, then called an ambulance to take him to Ranchester where he was taken by air ambulance to the hospital in Sheridan.

The lieutenant said the victim was wearing a helmet, and deputies who interviewed him at the hospital Saturday night determined that neither alcohol nor speed were involved. The lieutenant said road conditions appear to have been a factor. The road was reported as “bumpy.” He didn't know when the incident occurred, but the call to the sheriff's office was around 9:30 Saturday night.
