G&F Official Discusses Hunting Season Changes

Posted in

Archery antelope season opened in most areas on August 15. Many other archery seasons will open on September 1, or September 15, depending on the hunt area and license type.

Sheridan Region Public Information Specialist Bud Stewart explains that there is a change that archers need to know about.

Stewart said that hunters can only take the sex and species of deer set forth in the limitations section of the deer hunting regulations. He said the change is because the mule deer numbers on the National Forest are not where they want them to be. Stewart added that the general deer hunting season in hunt areas 25 and 28 will start on October 15 and end on October 24. He said during the general deer hunting season in those two hunt areas, a hunter with a valid deer license is allowed to take an antlered mule deer on any white-tailed deer.
