The annual “Echoes of the Past” Cemetery Tours, presented by the Johnson County Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum, will be happening tonight and Saturday night and will wrap up with performances next weekend.

The lantern-led walking cemetery tours are a look into Buffalo's historical past, as “actors” portray interesting people, previous city leaders, notorious figures and others that helped shape early Buffalo and Johnson County.

This year's historical figures include Nettie Wright, John Winchester, Eva Leis, an anonymous Basque sheepherder, a “woman of the plains,” and Verna Keays-Keyes, the designer of the Wyoming State Flag.

The tours will be through Willow Grove Cemetery beginning at dusk tonight and tomorrow, and again on the 17th, 18th, and 19th.
A special non-walking tour will be offered on Wednesday, August 16th.

The tours are $25 per person and space is limited, but none of the tours are sold out at this point, according to the museum. Payment is required to reserve a spot on a tour.

Contact the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum at 684-9331 or stop by the museum at 100 Fort Street for more information or to reserve a spot.
