Gatchell Living History Day Busier This Year

This year's Jim Gatchell Museum Living History Day was Saturday in Buffalo and it was busier than it has been the last few years, according to Museum Director John Gavin.

Gavin was excited with the crowds this year.

Visitors were treated to free admission to the museum itself to view the new exhibits and also to enjoy the living history exhibits outside on the lawn.

Learning how to make an arrowhead, or how to play 19th-century card games or about field surgery from a period-dressed cavalry doctor were just a few of the things to see and do during the museum's annual kickoff to the summer season.

Gavin was especially pleased with this year's new twist on an old favorite activity.

The Bighorn Basque Club taught those in the crowd willing to participate how to dance in the traditional Basque way. If the smiles on the faces of those dancing was any indication, the crowd participation was a huge success.

The museum will continue with its regular summer hours,
Monday through Saturday 9 to 6, and Sundays from 12 to 6 now through October 31st.
