Game & Fish Closes Habitat Management Areas

Most big game hunting seasons have now ended and habitat management areas that provide big game winter range across the state are now closed for the season.

The closed areas include the Bud Love area near Buffalo, according to information provided by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. The Amsden Creek and Kerns areas near Sheridan are also off limits to humans.

According to Ray Bredehoft, who is the chief of the Wyoming Game and Fish Habitat and Access Branch, the seasonal closures minimize stress-causing disturbance to wintering deer, elk and other wildlife.

The closures also reduce the human and recreational impacts to the forage, which supports wintering wildlife. The closures are for any human presence unless otherwise noted by the Game and Fish Department.
