Game and Fish Master Angler Program

Game and Fish Master Angler Program

A new Wyoming Game and Fish Department program recognizes anglers who catch trophy sized game fish in state waters. Game and Fish Sheridan Region Public Information Specialist Tina Schmidt explains that all of the information is available on their website.

Lengths that qualify must be from snout to tip of the pinched tail and anglers must submit a side view photo of the fish that includes something to reference size. Schmidt provides an example of a trophy size.

Suggestions on possible local trophy catching locations from fisheries biologists are listed below.

Keyhole Reservoir for northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, crappie, freshwater drum, channel catfish. Healy Reservoir for largemouth bass and tiger muskie. Kleenburn pond for largemouth bass and channel catfish. Muddy Guard Reservoir #1 for rainbow, brown, snake river cutthroat, and tiger trout. Lake DeSmet for walleye, brown trout, yellow perch, and lake trout.
