G & F: Leave Baby Wildlife Alone

G & F: Leave Baby Wildlife Alone

Fawns and calves are very vulnerable in their first weeks of life and many times, a scene where a young animal is all alone can look out of place for the average human. Wyoming Game and Fish Department Sheridan Region Public Information Specialist Tina Schmidt explained that even though a situation may seem like the creature needs help, people should leave the juveniles alone.

Schmidt said that State and Federal laws forbid possession of game and many non game animals so adopting newborn wildlife and bringing it home to try to care for it is illegal and can result in citations.
